Sculpting Unity & Brotherhood: Unveiling of Prophet Zarathustra’s Life-Size Statue at the World’s Largest Peace Dome
On 2nd October 2024, MIT World Peace University, Pune, marked a historic occasion with the unveiling of a life-size bronze statue of Prophet Zarathustra. Alongside it, a statue of the revered Chinese monk Hiuen Sang was also revealed. Held in the magnificent World’s Largest Peace Dome, this event coincided with the 155th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, symbolizing unity, peace, and spiritual harmony across cultures.
The ceremony was led by Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad, Founder-President of MIT WPU, and Dr. Meher Master-Moos, Founder-President of Zoroastrian College. Their efforts were instrumental in making this monumental event possible. The Chief Guest, Mr. Jehangir Jehangir, graced the event with his presence, adding to its significance.
The unveiling, which began at 4:30 PM, was marked by a grand procession led by a ceremonial band, with Parsis dressed in traditional garas and duglis. Ervad Arzaan K. Khambatta, Ervad Hoshedar Randeria, and Ervad Arzan M. Khambatta from Sardar Sorabji Ratanji Patel Dar-e-Mehr (Nana Peth Agiyari), along with Ervad Ardaviraf Sinor from Kadmi & Shenshai Ajuman Dar-e-Mehr (Komra Agiyari), led a Humbandagi prayer, creating an atmosphere of reverence and unity.
A special film on Prophet Zarathustra was shown, providing deep insights into the Prophet’s life and teachings. The event also included the ringing of the Peace Bell and the lighting of the sacred divo, symbolizing a shared quest for global harmony.
The unveiling of Prophet Zarathustra’s statue is not just a tribute to the past, but a lasting symbol of peace, unity, and the enduring values of Zoroastrianism—timeless principles that continue to inspire future generations.
